Worry and sadness are part of being human. We all feel this from time to time, however there are many young people who find worry and/or sadness troubling.
Are you a young person whose worry and/or sadness is:
– intense or distressing?
– overwhelming or feels uncontrollable?
– staying around for longer than expected and its hard to bounce
– get in the way of doing day to day things you need to do?
– affect your friendships, relationships, schooling, health or self esteem?
Some young people may experience worry or sadness only. Others may experience both worry and sadness together.
TeenSTRONG is a program that is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which has a lot of evidence showing it is effective for many people of all ages, including adolescents. Our programs have already been shown to be very helpful.
We designed this program to equip young people with strong and proven tools to deal with worry and sadness. These tools can be used for life and are useful for young people as they transition into early adulthood.
Who will find this course useful?
Young people from 12-17 years old who have either:
a) been diagnosed as having anxiety and/or depression and would benefit from treatment, or
b) started to experience worry and/or sadness to the degree that is it troubling them or affecting their life and would benefit from learning strategies to feel better
This program can benefit both young people who have never done CBT before, or young people who have done or are currently doing CBT and would like a refresher of the tools.
Parents or carers of young people will also benefit from information about the CBT tools their child is learning throughout the course as well as practical suggestions for how they can support them.
Young people aged 16-17 years have the option of doing either TeenSTRONG or the Adults Mixed Depression and Anxiety program.
This program is self-paced, but is designed to be completed within 90 days, at most. There are 6 lessons altogether and it is best to complete one lesson every 7-10 days to allow time to practice between lessons. There is also a lockout period of 5 days between each lesson to allow time to practice the skills you have been learning.
Initially you will be granted 90 days access, and after finishing the program, you will have an extra 12 months access to for practice purposes.
How much will it cost?
The course will be A$59 for three months access. At a cost of less than $10 per lesson, gain access to a wealth of comprehensive, evidence-based resources to help you and your teen conquer worry/sadness and regain confidence.
What type of support will I receive?
You will be supervised by the clinician who referred you to this program. As you work through the program, your clinician will receive updates on your progress and wellbeing. If on some weeks you are having a particularly hard time, both your clinician and parent will be informed so that they can support you in feeling better.
This is course requires the supervision of a parent or carer and a prescription from a clinician.
How is the course structured?
Our online questionnaires help to establish how you are feeling. Results from the questionnaires are then relayed back to your clinician after each lesson.
Our lessons are in a comic based format, where you can follow the journey of characters as they learn practical skills to deal with worry and sadness and apply them in different situations.
Download our lesson summaries which have activities for you to practice the skills in your day to day life.
Download worksheets that you can use between lessons to help you practice the skills.
Schedule your next lesson using our online calendar and we’ll send you reminders for your next lesson.
